چکیده

Redundant systems such as frames are often used to represent a signal for error correction, denoising and general robustness. In the digital domain quantization needs to be performed. Given the redundancy, the distribution of quantization errors can be rather complex. In this paper we study quantization error for a signal X in R represented by a frame using a lattice quantizer. We completely characterize the asymptotic distribution of the quantization error as the cell size of the lattice goes to zero. We apply these results to get the necessary and sufficient conditions for the asymptotic form of the White Noise Hypothesis in the case of the pulse-code modulation scheme.

A Method to Reduce Effects of Packet Loss in Video Streaming Using Multiple Description Coding

Multiple description (MD) coding has evolved as a promising technique for promoting error resiliency of multimedia system in real-time application programs over error-prone communicational channels. Although multiple description lattice vector quantization (MDCLVQ) is an efficient method for transmitting reliable data in the context of potential error channels, this method doesn’t consider disc...

Vector Set-Partitioning with Successive Refinement Voronoi Lattice VQ for Embedded Wavelet Image Coding

While lattice vector quantization (LVQ) can solve the complexity problem of LBG based vector quantizers, and also yield very general codebooks, a single stage lattice VQ, when applied to high variance vectors result in very large and unwieldy indices, making it unsuitable for applications requiring successive refinement. The goal of this work is to develop a unified framework for progressive un...

Wideband LSF quantization by generalized voronoi codes

Presented a method for quantizing the wideband line spectrum frequencies (LSF) with a specific class of near-ellipsoidal lattice codes referred to as “generalized Voronoi codes”. Optimization procedures are described with respect to a weighted mean-square error (WMSE). The lattices D16, RE16 or R 16 are applied to quantize the LSF with no frequency splitting. Results indicate that near-ellipsoi...
